Basic Methods of Marijuana Growing

There are 2 basic methods for growing marijuana - soil and hydro (water). These are broken down into subcategories: chemical, organic, soiless, deep water culture (DWC), drip or wick system, reservoir, and aquaponics.

Soil growing is the method of choice for the vast majority of marijuana growers. Potting soil can be found in every variety, from basic soil to soil that has fertilizers and nutrients added, as well as a variety of other growing mediums - perlite, vermiculite, and moss.

Some growers refuse to grow using any method other than organic - this is accomplished by using natural, untreated soil, and also in using natural fertilizers and nutrients.

Soiless growing is becoming more popular. This involves using rockwool, peat, coco coir or other mediums, and also using chemical or organic fertilizers and nutrients, depending upon the growers` preferences.

DWC is also becoming increasingly popular. This is most often accomplished by using the basic bubbler buckets and the fertilizers and nutrients of the growers` choice. DWC is more difficult to manage vs soil growing, but the yield rate is consistently higher by using water rather than soil.

Drip systems and wick systems are similar to DWC, although these use feeder lines to maintain adequate water levels for the plants, whereas a DWC setup simply requires adding water to the bucket as needed.

Reservoir growing is also similar to DWC, with the main difference being that the buckets are set within buckets, providing a continuous uptake of water for the marijuana plants. This is a rather complicated method, but well - known for producing a superior marijuana crop.

Aquaponics are a very effective method of marijuana growing. This can be accomplished by something as simple as growing plants in the family aquarium, to setting up large platforms for large grows in outdoor ponds. Again, aquaponics are more difficult to establish and trickier to maintain, due to the wide fluctuations in the nutrient levels, but successful pond growers are known to produce fabulous high yields off their plants.

Before you start growing, take a few minutes to assess your particular situation and the goals you wish to achieve. Stealth, strength, and accessibility are all important considerations, as well as the means you have available. There is a method of marijuana growing that is completely satisfying to even the most ardent perfectionist.
